Vaccinations – your first defence against flu
The NHS flu programme starts this month with vaccinations being offered to pregnant women, 2- & 3-year-olds, school aged children and children aged 6 months to years with an underlying health condition.
Vaccination for children is by a quick and painless nasal spray either at your GP for pre-school children or at school by the school aged immunisation service.
Pregnant women can get their vaccination from their midwife or GP. Their vaccination will protect from any complications, as well as protecting their newborn when flu can be most dangerous.
Flu vaccinations protect from serious illness, including hospitalisation, and reduce time off school and work.
You can find more information on the NHS website or speak to your GP or midwife if you have any other concerns.
